Playing the first two rounds of the OGIO-Santa Barbara Intercollegiate in Santa Barbara, Calif., the Pacific golf team finished the first day of play in a tie for fifth place on Monday, March 28. The Tigers shot a two round total of 598, +22 which tied them with both Southern Utah and San Jose State. Oregon, which entered the tournament as the top ranked team in the field, finished the opening day with a team score of 561, -15.
Taking on the Par 72, 7,068 yard Sandpiper Golf Course, the Tigers were led by senior T.J. Bordeaux, who completed his first 36 holes with at +2, firing a +1, 73 in each of his two rounds. The senior entered the clubhouse tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard just seven strokes off the lead. Leading the tournament are a pair of Ducks as Jack Dukeminier and Robbie Ziegler finished the first day of action at -5 through two rounds.
Right behind Bordeaux were the Tigers' two other seniors on the course as Alex Johnson finished up just one stroke back of Bordeaux and in a tie for 16th. Patrick Kucich finished his day at +7 to enter the final day of play in a tie for 31st.
The Tigers will hit the course for the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday, March 29. The tee times or the final day will range from 8:00 am - 9:40 am.
