Tough competition for the Tigers today in Eugene, Oregon. Even though they came up short, the matches were still impressive and Coach Redondo was still pleased with the team's performance.
When asked about today's match, Coach Redondo confidently said, "without a doubt the guys learned a huge lesson from today and this weekend. We may have come up short, but almost all matches were heated and competed. Today's match will make us better players but more so, better individuals and a better team."
While the team lost the match today, there were still a fair amount of individual successes. For instance, senior Fernando Ristow exceled in singles today defeating Robin Cambier 6-4, 6-3. Fernando also won his doubles match with fellow senior Artem Gramma. They faced Clissold and Mayeda and won with a confident score of 8-5. Also, junior Tomasz Krzyszkowski had a terrific match that was right down to the wire, though he didn't manage to gain a victory for his efforts, he still managed an impressive score against Jose Izquierdo 7-6 (11-9), 3-6, (10-6). Senior Artem Gramma also had a close match and earned an impressive score of 4-6, 5-7 against Baptiste Faynot.
The Tigers are now preparing for their next match on January 29th against UC Davis in Davis, California. This will be their first conference match of the season.
