Davis, Calif. - The women's swim team was defeated by UC Davis on Saturday, January 16 by a score of 187-107. With the loss the Tigers are 4-5 on the season.
Sophomore Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Calif.) touched first in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:22.42.
In the 200 Free, senior KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished third, posting a time of 1:55.91 and sophomore Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.) swam a 1:59.03 to take fourth place. Walterman later took first in the 200 Fly recording a time of 2:06.37. Freshman Jenna Chaplin (Nassau, Bahamas) completed the 200 Fly in 2:08.74 to take a third-place finish.
In the 100 Back, senior Devonie Migues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) swam a season best time of 57.05 to take first place. Senior Melissa McGhee (Elk Grove, Calif.) placed fourth, touching at 59.46. McGhee posted a first place finish for the Tigers in the 200 Back with a time of 2:06.81 and with a 57.85 in the 200 Fly, captured second place.
Registering a time of 1:06.13 in the 100 Breast, freshman Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.) captured first place. She took second place in the 200 Breast, touching the wall at 2:25.55.
Albiston took first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:02.67, with Swalin finishing at 5:09.97 to take third place.
In the 200 IM, Albiston swam a 2:13.33 for a third place finish.
The relay team of McGhee, McGowan, Migues, and Walterman joined for a second-place time of 1:47.47 in the 200 Medley Relay.
The Tigers will be back in the pool for a tri-meet against UC Davis and host San Jose State on Sunday, January 17 at 1:00 pm.
