Stockton, Calif. - After losing the first match of the afternoon to Nevada, the No. 67 Pacific men's tennis team rebounded quickly by taking the doubles point and then went on to win four singles points and the entire match, 5-2 on Saturday, March 7.

With the win, Pacific improved to 5-3 on the year, while Nevada fell to 4-2.

Kicking off the afternoon in doubles play, Nevada's duo of Kristian Kuharszky and Alex Daruty turned in a quick 8-2 victory over freshmen Karl-Erik Paaro (Tallinn, Estonia) and Christian Kuehne (Morbach, Germany). But Pacific persevered on the other courts, winning the No. 2 and No. 1 doubles matches respectively. Clinching the point for the Tigers was the No. 72-ranked duo of Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao, Brazil), who upended Laurent Garcim and Wessim Derbel, 9-7.

Nevada tried again to storm through the match in singles play, taking the first two matches in the No. 3 and 6 spots, respectively. Down 2-1, junior Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) put up the tying point, by taking his match, 6-2, 6-4 over Benjamin David. Starke put the Tigers up 3-2 when he defeated Laurent Garcim, 6-4, 6-4, from the No. 1 position. Ultimately, it was Paaro who secured Pacific it's win. He claimed the third, decisive set, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, and put Pacific just out of reach at 4-2.

Pacific next returns to action on Sunday, March 15, when they travel to San Diego, Calif., to take on Utah. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
