Santa Cruz, California -
The Pacific golf team once again didn't get a marquee performance during the opening round of the Western Intercollegiate Sunday morning at Pasatiempo Golf Club. They didn't get a performance that would separate themselves and put them out in front of everyone else. And that's ok. Because no one else did either.
It was sophomore Bayhaan Lakdawala's round of 71 that shone the brightest Sunday afternoon for the Tigers; his one-over par helped Pacific into a tie for seventh place after 18-hole of the 54-hole event. Lakdawala, who hooped an mid-iron shot from 165 on the par-4 first hole, kept himself in the hunt and finished his day individually in ninth.
Fellow sophomore Alex Johnson chipped in a two-over 72 after playing most of the morning under-par while Patrick Kucich turned in a 74.
The Tigers' +14 opening round left them in seventh place, just four-strokes out of third place. The tournament will pick back up Monday morning with a second round at 9:00 a.m.
