Pacific Swim Team Dives in for First Day at Short Course Nationals

Federal Way, Wash. - Members of the Pacific men's and women's swim team completed day one of the USA Swimming Short Course Nationals on Thursday, Dec. 3.

During the evening session, the women's 400 Medley Relay team, consisting of senior Devonie Migues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.), freshman Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.), sophomores Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Wash.) and Elena Walterman (Farmingham, Mass.), finished in 18th place in the finals with a time of 3:50.38. Earlier in the day the women's relay team qualified for the finals with a time of 3:46.61 in the preliminaries.

For the morning session the Tigers relay squad, joining Migues, McGhee, Swalin, and McGowan , placed 29th in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:38.61.

In the 500 Free, Swalin took 62nd place with a time of 5:03.61. Migues and McGhee competed in the 200 IM. Migues finished 60th with a time of 2:05.29, while McGhee took 91st place in the event, posting a time of 2:07.99.

On the men's side, sophomore Kevin Byers (Puyallup, Wash.) touched the wall in 1:55.34 in the preliminary round of the 200 IM to finish 70th out of 85 swimmers.

The Tigers return to the pool Friday, Dec. 4, for day two of the USA Swimming Short Course Nationals.
