Women's Swim Team Takes Third in Pacific Invitational

Stockton, Calif. - The Tigers finished third as the 2009 Pacific Invitational came to a close. BYU took first, followed by Oregon State University in second. Air Force finished in fourth and University of Nevada, who only competed on Saturday, took fifth place.

The Tigers took a fourth and fifth-place finish in the 200 fly. Sophomore Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.) finished in 2:07.43, with senior Melissa McGhee touching the wall at 2:07.47.

McGhee later took fifth-place in the 200 Back with a time of 2:10.29.

In the 100 Back, senior Devonie Migues (Santa Rancho Margarita, Calif.) took third with a time of 58.07.

Senior KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah) swam the 500 free in 5:01.79 to earn second-place for the event. Sophomore Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Wash.) finished in sixth-place with a time of 5:10.97. Freshman Jenna Chaplin (Nassau, Bahamas) finished with a time of 5:14.17, good enough for ninth-place.

Migues led Pacific swimmers in the 200 IM, finishing in sixth-place with a time of 2:10.29.

Walterman swam a 58.52 in the 100 Fly to take sixth-place. Chaplin was the next Tiger to finish at 1:00.24.

Migues finished in fourth for the 200 Breast, touching the wall at 2:24.97. Swalin finished ninth with a time of 2:28.95 and freshman Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.) rounded out the Tigers in the top ten with a time of 2:30.12.

Walterman, Swalin, Chaplin, and Albiston combined for third-place in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 7:54.58.

The Tigers will host the Orange vs. Black Alumni Meet at 10:00 am on October 24 at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
