Albuquerque, New Mexico -
The Pacific golf team opened their 2008-09 season at New Mexico's William Tucker Invitational Friday with rounds of 302-300, leaving them in tenth place entering tomorrow's final round. Sophmore TJ Bordeaux led the Tigers with rounds of 76 and 74 while teammate Alex Johnson shot a 77-74. Just a stroke behind them was fellow sophomore Alex Grieb with a 75-77. Charlie Van Sicklen and Danny Garcia rounded out the field for the Tigers after the first day with scores of 153.
"This is not the start we were looking for," said head coach Brandon Goethals. "This should be a strong wake-up call for our team. It's early but we need to be better than this. This is not who we are."
New Mexico leads their host tournament at -12 par. Play concludes tomorrow with a final 18-holes.
