Tigers Fall to San Francisco, 4-3

April 9, 2008

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team fell to San Francisco in a close match by the score of 4-3 on April 9 at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 9-9 on the year, while the Dons improved their record to 13-6 on the season with the win.

In doubles action, the Tigers started by winning at the No. 1 position when Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz do Conceiacao, Brazil) defeated San Francisco's Falko Huttenberger and Asaf Cohen 8-4. USF would later go on to win the doubles point, however, as the Tigers would fall at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

Later, in singles play, the Tigers earned victories at the top three spots as Vegerd Veskimagi (Saka, Estonia) fell just short of earning the fourth and final victory that the Tigers would have needed to have won the match. Veskimagi fell to Einar Hart 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(9) at the No. 4 position, while Starke, Artem Gramma (Krivoj Rog, Ukraine), and Delsin each won at the top three positions.

The Tigers will next be in action on April 12, when they take on UC Irvine in their final home match of the year at the Hal Nelson Tennis courts. The match will start at 1:00 p.m.
