Tigers Fall to Gauchos in Big West Championship Match, 4-0

Indian Wells, Calif. - The Pacific men's tennis team fell to UC Santa Barbara in the championship match of the Big West tournament on April 27 by a score of 4-0 in Indian Wells, Calif. Despite earning wins over UC Irvine and UC Riverside in the first two rounds of the championship tournament, the loss dropped the Tigers to 11-12 on the season as they finished with a 5-3 record against Big West opponents.

In the match, the Gauchos earned the doubles team point as they earned wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to jump out to an early lead in the match. The Tigers then went on to fall at the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6 positions as the remaining matches, including the match at the No. 1 doubles position, were not finished.

With the win, the No. 1 seeded Gauchos improved to 15-9 on the year overall, with only one loss in Big West play. The No. 3 seeded Tigers defeated No. 6 UC Riverside and No. 2 UC Irvine earlier in the week for the right to play in the championship match. With the loss, the Tigers finished their season with a record of 11-12 on the year. UCSB earned an automatic NCAA tournament berth with the win.
