Tempe, Arizona -
The Pacific golf team is in eighth place at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational after an opening round 292. Senior Chris Rosenau's 70 put him in tie for 11th going into the final two rounds Saturday and Sunday.
Rosenau combined an eagle on the par 5 14th hole with two birdies on the front nine to shoot one-under par for the day while Bordeaux birdied three of his first four holes on the front nine to finish at one-over par 72.
Senior AJ Hohn followed suit with birdies on holes one, two and three but struggled finishing on the tough ninth hole to shoot a three-over 74. Junior Charlie Van Sicklen posted a 76 while freshman Alex Johnson carded a 79.
"We've had great starts before and terrible starts before," said coach Brandon Goethals. "Where we sit right now has little bearing on where or how we'll finish. We're going to stick with our gameplan for this tournament and stay patient."
The Tigers, playing Arizona State's home Karsten Golf Course, finished the opening round at +8. Karsten Golf Course, normally a par 72, 7,002-yard course was modified to a 7,002-yard, par 71 course as the number five is played at a par four this week.
Pacific tees off tomorrow morning starting with Alex Johnson at 8:48. The team will play a second round 18 tomorrow and a final 18 Sunday morning. For live-scoring and more information please visit http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/index.cfm?tournament_id=1147
