Reno, Nevada - The Pacific men's tennis team defeated Nevada by a score of 6-1 indoors at the Lake Ridge Tennis Club on Mar. 30 in Reno, Nevada. With the win, the Tigers improved their overall record to 8-7 on the season, while the Wolf Pack fell to 3-11 after suffering the loss.
In doubles play, David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) teamed up to defeat Benjamin David and Guerin Smith at the No. 2 position 8-3 and Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and Austin Kakar (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) defeated Nevada's Kristian Kuharszky and Gabe Kanzelmeyer at the No. 3 spot 8-6 to earn the match's team point for the Tigers.
Earning victories in singles action on the day for the Pacific men were Gonzalez, Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao,Brazil), Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine), Veskimagi, and Chase Oliphant (Indio, Calif.). Gramma and Oliphant won in two sets at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions, while Gonzalez, Delsin, and Veskimagi each won in three sets at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 5 positions.
The Tigers will next be in action on April 5-6 when they take on Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara in Big West conference play. The Tigers will face Cal Poly at 12:00 p.m. in San Luis Obispo, Calif. on April 5 and then will travel to take on UCSB at 12:00 p.m. on April 6 in Santa Barbara, Calif.
