Stockton, Calif. The Pacific men's tennis team won their third straight match on Mar. 27, when they defeated DePaul at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. With the win, the Tigers improved their overall record on the season to 7-7, while the Blue Demons fell to 11-7 on the year with the loss.
The Tigers fell behind early in the match as they recorded only one victory in doubles competition. David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saka, Estonia) teamed up to defeat Vanja Grgec and Barosz Jozwiak 8-6 at the No. 2 position to earn Pacific's only doubles win on the day.
Earning singles victories for the Tigers on the afternoon however, were Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany), Gonzalez, Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceiacao, Brazil), and Veskimagi. Veskimagi came back from a 5-1 deficit in the third set of his match at the No. 5 position, while Artem Gramma (Krivoj Rog, Ukraine) was forced to retire due to severe cramping at the No. 3 position.
The Pacific men's tennis team will next be in action on Mar. 30, when they take on Nevada in Reno, Nevada at 12:00 p.m.
