Ja-Neil Bragg Finishes 50th in 200 IM at NCAA Championships

Columbus, Ohio - Ja-Neil Bragg finished 50th in the 200 IM at the NCAA Championships held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavillion on Thursday, March 20.

She finished with a time of 2:02.63, finishing ahead of 22 other swimmers at the event.

"Ja-Neil's 200 IM time was a little off her best, but she did some good things in her race and knows what she needs to do differently tomorrow for her 400 IM," said Pacific Head Coach Greg Meehan. "We are all excited because that is Ja-Neil's best event.

Ja-Neil will compete in the 400 IM on Friday, March 21 at the NCAA Championships. Bragg earned her spot in the 400 IM when she delivered an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 4:14.81 during the preliminary round of the Nike Cup held November 16th in Long Beach, Calif. That mark set a new Pacific record in the 400 IM and is the new meet record as well.

Bragg's third event at the NCAA Tournament will be the 200 fly on Saturday, she enters that event with a time of 2:02.50.

In 2007, Bragg qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 IM, the 400 IM. She finished in 33rd in the 200 IM preliminary round with a time of 2:01.33. Bragg finished in 21st place in the 400 IM, which is her highest finish at the NCAA Championships in her three trips to the NCAA meet.
