Fresno, California -
Led by freshman T.J. Bordeaux's 73-68, the Pacific golf team finished day one of the Fresno Lexus Classic in 13th place. The Tigers shot 287-293 to sit four-over par going into tomorrow's final round.
In near perfect conditions at Fort Washington Country Club the Tigers took early control of the tournament, positioning themselves at seven-under par second place for much of the first round. The Tigers entered the afternoon round tied for fourth place with a host of teams.
"Our guys came out strong this morning and everyone put together solid rounds and that reflected on the scoreboard," said coach Jeremy Fletcher. "That's something that we've worked on to maintain throughout the tournament and hopefully we'll recover tomorrow and get back on pace.
Bordeaux finished his first two rounds in 15th place with a 141 while both Pacific seniors Chris Rosenau and A.J. Hohn opened with one-under 71's. Freshman Alex Johnson finished with a 74-76 and junior Charlie Van Sicklen posted an even par 72 and second round 82.
San Diego State currently sits in front of the team standings, as they shot 275-277, -24 during day one.
The Tigers are fourteen strokes better going into the final round than they were last year when they shot 298-296 at Sunnyside Country Club.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with a final 18 holes at Fort Washington.
