KC Albiston and Jun Huang Nab Individual Events, But Pacific Places Fourth at Big West Swimming Championships

Long Beach, Calif. - Despite individual victories by sophomore KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah) and junior Jun Huang (Guangzhou, China), the Pacific women's swim team finished fourth at the Big West Championships on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The final day of action opened with the swimmer's version of the marathon, the 1650 freestyle. Albiston went the distance to earn the individual championship with a mark of 17:03.15. UC Santa Barbara's Lindsay Gaudinier swam the second-fastest time at 17:14.08.

Huang took first place in the 200 backstroke, posting a top time of 1:57.88. She led a trio of from UC Santa Barbara that finished second through fourth place. Jessica Cruzat grabbed second with a mark of 1:59.00, while Katherine Ure clocked a third-place time of 2:02.56 and Elizabeth Wagner held the fourth slot at 2:03.56.

The Tigers' season is officially complete and individual swimmers will wait to see if they are selected to compete in the NCAA Championships, March 20-23.
