Pacific Women's Swim Team Heads To Final Day of Big West Swimming Championships in Third Place

Long Beach, Calif. - A second place finish in the 200 Free Relay has the Pacific women's swim team in third place following the third day of action at the Big West Swimming Championships on Friday, Feb. 22.

The team of junior Jenny Lewis (Hesperia, Calif.), senior Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.), freshman Samantha Caldwell (Phoeniz, Ariz.) and junior April Woo (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted a final time of 1:33.09 in the 200 Free Relay, just behind UC Santa Barbara's winning time of 1:31.46.

Earlier in the day, Bragg grabbed a second place finish of her own in the 400 IM with a time of 4:18.29. UC Irvine's Lyndsay De Paul won the event in 4:11.68.

In the 100 Breast and 100 Back the Tigers nabbed fourth and fifth place finishes.

The 100 Breast saw seniors Kellen Loehr (Grass Valley, Calif.) and Ziada Jardine (Capetown, South Africa) post times of 1:04.04 (Loehr) and 1:04.26 (Jardine).

Junior Jun Huang (Guangzhou, China) placed fourth in the 100 Back in 55.68, while Lewis was right behind her a 56.50

"Tonight we had a great finals session! There were a few breakout swims and just a really good performance all the way around. But if we are going to get to second, we have to be sensational tomorrow," said head coach Greg Meehan.

The other events concluded on Friday were the 100 Fly and 200 Free.

The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as the following events will be held. 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay, and the 1650 Free.
