Houston, Texas -
Behind a four-under 68 from freshman T.J. Bordeaux the Pacific golf team stormed back from two less than stellar rounds to shoot the lowest round of the day and collect third place at the Rice Intercollegiate.
The Tigers, playing at the 7,184-yard Westwood Golf Club, posted rounds of 296 and 301 during the first day of play but came together to shoot a final round one-under par.
Bordeaux's 68 put him in the clubhouse with a 219, good enough for fourth place individually while senior Chris Rosenau took a 15th place tie with 222. Also going low for the Tigers was junior Charlie Van Sicklen, who carved out a final-round 70 to finish in 30th place.
"The final round was what we need every time out," said coach Brandon Goethals. "T.J. had a great round and we got good support from three other players. If we do that every time out then we'll contend for a win every tournament."
Baylor University took the team title with a two-day score of 878. The Tigers continue their spring season the first week of March at the Fresno Lexus Classic in Fresno, California.
