The Pacific men's tennis team defeated UC Riverside 6-1 at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. on Feb. 17. With the win the Tigers improved to 4-2 on the season, 2-0 in Big West Conference play, while the Highlanders fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the Big West.
The Tigers won two of three matches to earn the doubles team point. At the No. 1 position Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) defeated Joe Carteledge and John Park 8-6, while Artem Gramma (Krivoj Rog, Ukraine) and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceiacao, Brazil) defeated Quoc Doan and Ahmad Shiraz 8-2 at the No. 2 position. Starke and Gonzalez are now 3-1 together this spring and 5-2 on the year.
In singles play, the Tigers earned victories at the first five positions, with Gramma, Starke, Delsin and David Gonzalez each picking up straight set victories.
The Tigers will next return to action on Sunday, Feb. 24, hosting Sacramento State at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in Stockton, Calif. The match will start at 1:00 p.m.
