Tucson, Ariz. - After having the first two matches of the spring season postponed last weekend, the Pacific men's tennis team opened up their 2008 schedule with a 7-0 win over Northern Arizona on Feb. 1 in Tucson, Ariz. With the win, the Tigers improved to 1-0 on the year, while the Lumberjacks fell to 0-2 with the loss to start their spring.

The Tigers came away with a victory in each of the six singles matches on the day and they were also awarded the point for doubles play as Moritz Starke (Bamberg, Germany) and David Gonzalez (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won at the No. 1 doubles position, Artem Gramma (Krivoj Rog, Ukraine) and Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceiacao, Brazil) won at the No. 2 position, and Pedro Toledo (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saka, Estonia) won at the No. 3 doubles position.

Winning singles matches for the Tigers were Starke, Gramma, Delsin, Gonzalez, Veskimagi, and Toledo. Starke led the way for the group winning 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 position over Northern Arizona's Bradley Bristow.

The Pacific men's tennis team will next be in action on Feb. 2, when they will take on No. 46 Arizona State. at 12:00 p.m. The Tigers will return home to take on UC Davis and Sonoma State on Feb. 9 at the Hal Nelson tennis courts.
