The Pacific golf team finished strong at the Ogio Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, posting a final round 285 to take eighth place. Senior Thomas Petersson and junior Chris Rosenau tied for 17th place, shooting scores of 210 to lead the Tigers to their first under-par tournament in more than five years.
Petersson shot a final round 69 while Rosenau posted a 74 at the 6,830-yard Alisal River Course. Junior A.J. Hohn shot his first tournament under par, posting a one-under 215 for the week while freshman Patrick Kucich finished at 219 and sophomore Charlie Van Sicklen at 223.
"This is a glimpse of things to come for us," said head coach Brandon Goethals. "We've raised the bar with a good performance but we need to get much better than we showed today. I'm not taking a thing away from our guys and I'm very proud of the consistency that we showed. I'm looking forward to getting even better."
Chris Kirk of Cal Poly took the individual title with rounds of 64-67-68 while his team took top honors by shooting 37 under par.The Tigers are off for three weeks until the Big West Championship at Tijeras Creek at the end of the month.
