Santa Barbara, Calif. - In their last dual meet of the season the Pacific women defeated UC Santa Barbara by a score of 138.5 to 121.5 to improve to 6-1 on the season, while the men lost to the Gauchos by a score of 153 to 109 to finish their dual meet season at 2-4 on the year. In the meet the Tigers finished first in 18 of 28 events.
On the women's side, freshman Brooke Cashion (Irvine, Calif.) and juniors Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.), Ziada Jardine (Cape Town, South Africa), and Kristin Okazaki (Auburn, Wash.) each won two events a piece for the Tigers.
Cashion finished first in the 500 Free and the 1000 Free with times of 5:02.10 and 10:26.59; Bragg won the 100 Free and the 200 Free with times of 51.61 and 1:50.72; Jardine placed first in the Breaststroke events turning in times of 1:04.01 in the 100 Breast and 2:19.23 in the 200 Breast; and Okazaki touched first in the 100 Fly and the 200 Fly with times of 56.39 and 2:02.21.
On the men's side, sophomore Maxwell Maris (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and juniors David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Calif.) and Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland) each won two events for the Tigers as well.
Maris finished first in the 500 Free and the 1000 Free with times of 4:38.59 and 10:26.59; Betlej won the 100 Back and the 200 Back events with times of 51.69 and 1:48.51; and Dunn placed first in the 100 Breast with a time of 58.22 and in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:05.40.
The Tigers will next be in action at the Big West Championships in Long Beach, Calif. from Feb. 21-24.
