Pacific Women Finish Second, Men Finish Fourth at 2007 Big West Swimming and Diving Championships

Long Beach, Calif. - After four days of competition in Long Beach, Calif. at the 2007 Big West Swimming and Diving Championships, the Pacific women's swimming team finished in second place in the conference and the men's team ended the week fourth. Winning the two team titles were the UC Irvine men and the UC Santa Barbara women.

Day four featured four first place finishes for the Tigers including wins by KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah), Jun Huang (Guangzhou, China), Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland), and David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Calif.). Betlej and Huang finished first in the 200 Back with times of 1:44.96 and 1:58.03, while Albiston finished first in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:14.04 and Dunn touched first in the 200 Breast with a time of 1:59.44.

The last day of competition featured two second place finishes and three third place finishes for the Tigers as well. Pacific's second place performances were recorded by Matt Lundy in the 1650 Free with a time of 15:36.37 and the women's 400 Free Relay team that recorded a time of 3:27.73. That relay was made up of Jenny Lewis (Hesperia, Calif.), Huang, Brooke Cashion (Irvine, Calif.), and Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.).

Recording third place finishes for the Tigers were Sarah Gutierrez (San Jose, Calif.), Bragg, and Kristin Okazaki (Auburn, Wash.). Gutierrez finished in third place in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:30.12, Bragg finished in third in the 100 Free with a time of 51.38, and Okazaki placed third in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:00.53.
