Honolulu, Hawai'i - The No. 11 ranked Pacific men's volleyball team fell to No. 5 Hawai'i in three games, 30-26, 30-21, 30-28. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 2-4, 1-2 in MPSF play, while the Warriors improve to 1-2, 1-2 in MPSF play.
In game one, the Tigers pulled to within one point at 21-20 on a kill by sophomore Maor Nutkevitch (Ra'anana, Israel), but committed two service errors and an attack error during a 5-1 Hawai'i run to give the Warriors a 26-21 lead they would never relinquish.
Hawai'i took control of game two, leading the entire way while hitting a match high .370 in route to the 30-21 victory. Game three came right down to the wire as, with the score tied 28-28 the Tigers committed two attack errors to end the game.
Pacific was led by Nutkevitch who tallied 13 kills, while junior Pekka Seppanen (Kuopio, Finland) added 11.
The Warriors were led by Jim Clar's 14 kills, while Matt Rawson added nine kills and eight block assists.
The two teams will meet again on Friday, January 19th at 7p.m. HT, not January 20th as previously noted.
