Stockton, Calif. - Four Pacific student-athletes were named to the MPSF Men's Volleyball All-Academic Team: senior Javier Caceres, sophomores Christian Franceschi, Marco Grasso and Marty Ross.
Caceres paced Pacific with a 3.53 GPA in his senior campaign as the Tigers' libero. On the court, Caceres broke the Tigers all-time digs record and became the sixth player MPSF history to reach 1,000 mark, finishing at 1,013. The defensive standout posted 2.58 digs per set in his career, and tallied 202 digs in 87 sets this past season (2.32).
Franceschi posted 207 kills in 90 sets as an outside hitter for the Tigers this season, 2.30 per set. He also added 102 digs and 43 blocks on the season. He set a career-best mark of 17 kills against BYU on February 14 and hit .444 against UC San Diego on February 8 with 13 kills against one error.
Grasso was the Tigers' leading setter with 458 assists in 2014, an average of 7.63 per set. He registered a career-best 55 assists against UC San Diego on February 8, and finished the season with 35 blocks and 86 digs.
Middle blocker Marty Ross helped the Tigers lead the nation in blocks per set (3.05) by chipping in 1.05 in his 55 sets played, tied for 19th in the NCAA. He finished with 58 blocks, including nine solo. Ross also added 75 kills (1.36 per set).
The MPSF All-Academic team features student-athletes who posted a 3.00 or higher cumulative grade point average, and have completed at least one full academic year at the institution while competing in 50 percent or more of matches.
