STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's volleyball team has announced the hiring of assistant coach Albert Ahedo, as announced by head coach Devin Young on Wednesday afternoon.

Ahedo most recently served as associate head coach for the volleyball program at San Jose State during the 2025 season, where he oversaw opponent scouting, match analytics, budget management, travel operations, and strategic game planning.

"We're excited to welcome Albert to our staff," Young said. "He has an exceptional analytical mind and a great understanding of the game. He brings valuable experience, connects well with players, and is passionate about helping them improve on and off the court. Albert will be a tremendous addition to our program as we get going with our first year back."

While at SJSU last season, the Spartans earned 13 wins, including eight against Mountain West opponents. Ahedo's data-driven approach and expertise in defensive systems have helped elevate team performance while maintaining efficient program operations.

"I am honored and excited to join Pacific as an Assistant Coach as we reestablish men's volleyball. I want to thank Head Coach Devin Young for the opportunity to be part of his staff and for believing in what I can bring to the program. I'm looking forward to working alongside Coach Young, our student-athletes, and the Pacific community to build a strong foundation and create a program that represents Pacific with pride and excellence."

Prior to joining San Jose State, Ahedo spent more than seven years at Saint Mary's as an assistant coach. During his tenure, he played a key role in athlete development, recruiting, scouting, compliance management, camp administration, and fundraising initiatives. He led scouting presentations, managed recruiting systems, coordinated prospect evaluations, and helped build operational structures that supported both the indoor and beach volleyball programs. The team earned a NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2018 season, and he was instrumental in expanding the program's recruiting and operational capabilities.

Ahedo also served as a head coach with NorCal Volleyball Club, where he has coached athletes across multiple age groups and guided teams to notable competitive success, including a silver medal finish at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier and a WCVBA Championship.

Before his time at Saint Mary's, Ahedo was the first assistant Coach and defensive coordinator at Pasadena City College, where he helped lead the program to a South Coast Conference Championship. He was responsible for defensive strategy, scouting, statistical analysis and practice planning.

Ahedo earned both his Bachelor of Science in kinesiology (exercise science) and Master of Arts in kinesiology (administrative kinesiology) from Saint Mary's.
