Bakersfield, Calif. - The Pacific swimming teams defeated Cal State University Bakersfield on Saturday, January 13 by scores of 172-152 on the men's side and 187-151 on the women's side. With the wins the men improved to 1-2 in dual meets on the season, while the women advanced to 3-1 on the year.
The Tigers finished first in twenty events on the day with the help of eleven different individual winners. One of those event winners for Pacific was newcomer Jun Huang (Guangzhou, China). In Huang's first meet as a Tiger she finished first in the 100 Back with a time of 58.68 and first in the 200 Back with a time of 2:04.47.
Other first place finishers for the Tigers were freshman Brooke Cashion (Irvine, Calif.), sophomore Maxwell Maris (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), and junior David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Colo.). Cashion placed first in the 500 Free with a time of 5:05.73 and in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:20.40; Maris won the 500 Free with a time of 4:40.59 and the 1000 Free with a time of 9:34.68; and Dunn touched first in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:07.01.
This Tigers will next be in action on January 20, when they return to Chris Kjeldsen Pool in Stockton, Calif. for their final home meet of the year. The meet will be against UC Davis and Cal Poly and it will start at 12:00 p.m.
