Long Beach, Calif. - Led by senior Thomas Petersson's eighth place individual finish the Pacific golf team posted a final round 287 to end the Del Walker Intercollegiate in 13th place.

After opening rounds of 295 and 299 the Tigers put together a combined round of three over par at the 6,633-yard Virginia Country Club. Pacific's 287 was the second best team round of the day, second only to San Jose State's 282.

Petersson continued his steady play through the final round, finishing with an even 71 to tie for eighth place. He finished at +1, 214 for the 54-hole event. Junior Chris Rosenau also shot a final round 71; posting a two-day score of 73-75-71=219 for a 30th place tie.

"We've got some work to do; that's clear enough," said coach Brandon Goethals. "We're certainly not where we want to be but we made a push today and we need to continue to improve."

St. Mary's College and Arkansas tied for the team championship with both schools firing 54-hole scores of 856 over the two day tournament. Individually San Jose State's Aaron Conrad was named individual champion after he won a playoff hole against Joe Panzeri of San Diego. Both men shot a 54-hole score of 212 at the par 71 course.

The Tigers fly across the country next week to take part in the Adam's Cup in Middleton, Rhode Island on September 26-27.
