Pacific dropped by UC Santa Barbara, 5-2

April 1, 2006

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers women's tennis team fell to UC Santa Barbara, 5-2, on Saturday, Apr. 1.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 9-8 overall and 2-3 in the Big West Conference, while Santa Barbara moved to 12-7 on the season and 5-1 in conference play.

Hampered by injuries all season, the Tigers were forced to play without freshman Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) on Saturday due to illness. The resulting lineup shuffle, limited Pacific's effectiveness as Pacific could only claim victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions. Freshman Carla Tamborini (Arcadia, Calif.) moved up to the No. 3 position and defeated UC Santa Barbara's Andrea Pintar, 6-4, 7-5.

The Tigers will be back in action on Sunday, Apr. 5 as Pacific travels to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to take on the Cal Poly at 10 a.m.
