Paced by strong performances from junior Thomas Petersson and sophomore Chris Rosenau the Pacific golf team moved up to finish in fifth place at the Rice Intercollegiate Tuesday, February 7.
The Tigers capped off the tournament by shooting a 295, seven strokes better than their second round performance on Monday. Petersson carded a 72 on the 6,700-yard Willowisp Country Club to finish just four strokes off the lead with a 223. Rosenau shot an even par 70 during his final round to finish 12th, a single stroke behind Petersson at 224. Rosenau's 70 tied his career low and tied him for the lowest round of the tournament.
Freshman Adam Beckman finished with a 73 to put him in 39th place and freshman Charles Van Sicklen's overall 232 gave him a 45th place finish.
Santa Clara claimed the team title by shooting a two-day score of 304-289-296=889 and Colorado State's Derrick Whiting won a playoff after carding a 72-77-70=219 during the tournament.
The Tigers will travel to Irvine, California on February 27-28 to take part in the Anteater Invitational.
