Tigers in Eighth After Day One of Rice Intercollegiate

Missouri City, Texas - Pacific golf is in eighth place after the first 36-holes of the Rice Intercollegiate, Monday, February 6. The Tigers shot a 307-302=609 for the first two rounds as junior Thomas Petersson and freshman Charles Van Sicklen both carded a 76's and 75's.

Play at the 6,700-yard, Willowisp Country Club concluded this afternoon with the Tigers in the middle of the pack, tied in eighth place with Sam Houston State in the 14-team tournament. Both teams shot a combined 609 at the par 70 course. The Tigers were paced by Petersson and Van Sicklen's rounds of six over and five over in a day where no golfer carded anything better than par.

Sophomores Chris Rosenau fired a 154 during the first two rounds as did sophomore Brett Giurlani, making his second appearance for the Tigers during the 2005-06 season. Both men shot 154's to sit in a tie for 39th place. Freshman Adam Beckman also contributed, carding a 157 on the afternoon.

The Tigers resume play tomorrow morning at 8:00 am (Central Time) and finish the final 18-holes of the tournament.
