Tigers fall to No. 55 Arizona, 6-1

Tucson, Ariz. - The Pacific Tigers men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss to No. 55 Arizona on Sunday, Feb. 5.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 3-2 on the season, while Arizona moved to 4-0 overall.

The match got off to a quick start as the Tigers grabbed the doubles point. In the No. 1 doubles spot, Pacific senior Jorgen Vestli (Hamar, Norway) and junior Vladimir Zdravkovic (Pancevo, Serbia and Montenegro) defeated Claudio Christen and Jeff Groslimond 8-3. On court 2, senior Arnar Sigurdsson (Kopavogur, Iceland) and freshman Tim Koniarski (Bad Abbach, Germany) defeated Bruno Alcala and Peter Zimmer, 9-8 (7-5).

No. 55 Arizona, however, responded in singles play, taking all six points to claim the match, 6-1.

The Tigers will be back in action on Feb. 11 as Pacific hosts UC Irvine at 2 p.m.
