Tempe, Ariz. - The Pacific men's tennis team fell for the first time in 2006, dropping a 5-2 dual match at Arizona State on Friday, February 3. With the loss the Tigers dropped to 2-1 on the season while the Sun Devils remained undefeated at 3-0.

Despite getting two points out of the top three singles matches, the Tigers were unable to come back from an early deficit against the Sun Devils after losing the doubles point to start the match. Pacific fell in two of the three doubles matches with its lone win coming from the team of senior Arnar Sigurdsson (Kopavogur, Iceland) and freshman Tim Koniarski (Bad Abbach, Germany) in the No. 2 singles position as the duo took down Nick Hegarty and Wes Miller, 8-5.

In singles, Pacific claimed the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, but fell in the other four singles spots. Senior Jorgen Vestli (Hamar, Norway) defeated Ryan McBride, 6-7(4), 6-3, 1-0(8), to take Pacific's first point of the match at No. 1 singles. He was followed by junior Vladmir Zdravkovic (Pancevo, Serbia and Montenegro) who defeated Christopher Biro, 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, at the No. 3 position.

The Tigers will look to get back on track tomorrow, Saturday, February 4, as they continue their trip through Arizona with a match at Northern Arizona. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
