Stockton, Calif. - With the completion of day one at the Food4Less Pacific Invitational, the Pacific men's golf team finds themselves in ninth place after shooting an opening round 291, +3. At the end of the day, the BYU Cougars held the overall team lead as they came into the clubhouse at 13-under after shooting 275 for the round. BYU's Danny Summerhays holds the overall lead with a 6-under, 66.
Individually, the Tigers were led by local product Charles Van Sicklen (Stockton, Calif.) as the sophomore shot an opening round 68 to finish at 4-under with a share of fourth place overall. Van Sicklen posted four birdies on the front nine including back-to-back one-unders on the final two holes before making the turn. On the back nine, Van Sicklen parred out to hold steady near the top of the leader board in day one.
Behind Van Sicklen, freshman Bayhaan Lakdawala (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) and senior Thomas Petersson (Stockholm, Sweden) each posted 2-over, 74's, in round one.
The Tigers begin round two action of the Food4Less Pacific Invitational tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7, as they tee-off 8:50 am at Brookside Country Club. First tee-times begin at 8:00 am.
