College Station, Texas - The Pacific swim teams recorded solid individual performances in day two of the Texas A&M Art Adamson Invitational on Nov. 18. In the women's 400 IM junior Ja-Neil Bragg (Manteca, Calif.) finished in second place with a time of 4:15.21 and set a new school record in the process, while in the men's 400 IM junior Krzysztof Zoldak (Oswiecim, Poland) finished in first place with a time of 3:51.26 to complement his win in the 200 IM from yesterday.
Other top individual performers for the Tigers were David Dunn (Morgan Hill, Calif.), Justin Canty (El Cajon, Calif.), and Wojciech Betlej (Mielec, Poland). Dunn placed second in the 100 Breast with a time of 55.22, Canty placed third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.10, and Betlej placed second in the 100 Back with a time of 49.18.
The men's 800 Free Relay team also placed third on Saturday. The team of Zoldak, Stephen Quinn (Livermore, Calif.), Casey Lowdermilk (Parker, Colo.), and Canty swam a time of 6:46.52, which is the fastest recorded time for the Tigers in almost two years.
"It was fun to watch a good portion of the team finally have their break out performances," said head coach Greg Meehan. "We are swimming well for this time of year and our sophomores really stepped up again today. I am excited about the direction that we are heading in and I am excited to get back at it tomorrow morning."
After two days of competition, the Pacific Men are in fourth and the women are in sixth. The Texas A&M Invitational will conclude tomorrow. Events are scheduled to last all day.
