The Pacific golf team finished the opening rounds of the 49er Classic, Monday, October 23. The Tigers shot a combined 322-318=640 to sit in 15th place after day one.
The Tigers, playing their second East Coast tournament in less than a month, were led by junior Chris Rosenau's 77-82=159 and sophomore Adam Beckman's 79-81=160. Senior Thomas Petersson finished the day with an 82-79=161 at the 7,116-yard par 72 course. Freshman Patrick Kucich, playing in his first collegiate tournament, fell back early with an opening round 86 but regained his composure to shot the Tigers' best round of the tournament thus far, at 76.
"It's a demanding course that requires us to make good golf shots," said head coach Brandon Goethals. "And we're not doing that. We're making mistakes. Tomorrow will be about minimizing those mistakes and putting things together."
