STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's basketball team was unable to overcome a cold first half shooting performance in a 72-56 loss to Gonzaga on Thursday night at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The team was only able to connect on 33.3 percent (10-for-30) of its attempts in the opening half while Gonzaga (21-9, 16-3 WCC) converted over 50 percent of its looks. Pacific (13-16, 9-10 WCC) was particularly hurt by the three ball as it only hit 1-of-9 in the first half compared to the Bulldogs' 5-for-11.
Freshman
Daria Nestorov and senior
Elizabeth Elliott were the only Tigers that reached double figures on the night but did so in much different ways. Elliott reached her ten points largely from the free throw line where she went 6-for-6. Over the last three games she has been a perfect 14-for-14 from the stripe and improved her season percentage to 66.9%.
Nestorov however did her damage from deep by hitting two of Pacific's four three-pointers of the game. The freshman guard entered as the team's most accurate three-point shooter and after tonight raised that clip to 43.2%.
Junior
Lauren Glazier logged 17 minutes off the bench in her longest outing since Jan. 16 against LMU, contributing six points on 3-for-7 shooting – her best offensive night since Jan. 23 at Pepperdine.
Coming up next for the Pacific, it rounds out the regular season with the Portland Pilots for senior day. Tipoff Saturday from the Alex G. Spanos Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. but fans are encouraged to arrive early to help celebrate graduate
Liz Smith, seniors
Anaya James and
Elizabeth Elliott and student assistant
Endigo Parker's contributions to the program.
