Gibbons Steps Down as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach

STOCKTON, Calif. – After 16 seasons at the helm, Pacific women's volleyball head coach Greg Gibbons stepped down to pursue other opportunities.

Gibbons compiled a 249-214 record at Pacific and coached the team to five postseason appearances, including four NIVC appearances in the last five years. In 2014, he was named the WCC Coach of the Year after guiding the team to a 25-7 record including 13-5 in conference - it was the program's winningest season since 1991.

"I am very appreciative and grateful for the past 16 years and all the student-athletes, alumni, colleagues and community I have shared the many years with at Pacific. I want to thank University of the Pacific, our administration and staff, our many alums, fans, boosters and all the student-athletes that I have been able to coach and have in my life during my tenure here at Pacific," Gibbons said.

During his tenure, Gibbons coached 41 All-Conference selections, 38 All-Academic honorees, 11 All-Freshman selections and a pair of AVCA All-Americans in Gillian Howard and Alexa Edwards. Gibbons also served as the head beach volleyball coach from 2013-23 and is the winningest head coach in the program's history.

"Coach Gibbons devoted many years of service to Pacific and made a positive impact on the student-athletes he coached. We thank him for his commitment and leadership of the program, and wish him the very best in his next chapter," said Director of Athletics Adam Tschuor.

A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
