STOCKTON, Calif. – Every student-athlete that entered the game for the Pacific women's basketball team scored at least one bucket in Monday's 87-47 opening day win over Stanislaus State at the Alex G. Spanos Center.
The Tigers (1-0) dished out 30 assists on 36 made baskets, including eight apiece from graduate
Liz Smith and senior
Anaya James. James moved into third all-time in career assists with 443 and needs 23 more to pass Corinne Wong for second.
Smith's eight assists marked a career-high, eclipsing the seven she tallied against CSU Bakersfield last season. As a team, the 30 assists matched their season-high from a season ago.
Senior
Elizabeth Elliott led the team in scoring with 14 points to go along with seven rebounds. She was one of four Tigers to score in double-figures along with junior
Sydney Ward with 12 points, sophomore
Nyah Lowery with 11 and sophomore
Marina Radocaj with 10.
Lowery's 11 points marked a career-high as she was 4-of-9 shooting and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Radocaj's 10 points came in her Pacific debut after spending her freshman season at Arizona State.
The Tigers darted out to a 39-19 halftime lead and limited the Warriors to five points and a 1-of-11 shooting mark in the second quarter. Ward played a large role on the defensive end and finished with a career-high four blocks.
Pacific will play its first road game Thursday when it travels to Washington in a rematch from a season ago. Tip-off from the Alaska Airlines Arena is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen on the Big Ten Network plus.
