SEATTLE, Wash. – Pacific women's basketball fought for four quarters but were defeated by Washington 81-50 at the Alaska Airlines Arena on Thursday.
The Tigers (1-1) came out the gate strong and scored the first two baskets to lead 4-0. Pacific connected on its first three shots on baskets by senior
Elizabeth Elliott and graduate
Liz Smith.The duo ended up leading the team in scoring with 13 and 11 points, respectively for the game.
Elliott also led the team in rebounding, falling just shy of the double-double with nine boards.
Senior
Anaya James reached double-figure scoring for the Tigers with 10 points on 4-for-13 shooting and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc to go alongside five assists and five steals. Coupled with her performance against Stanislaus State and it marked the first time in her career James has swiped five or more steals in consecutive games.
Staying on the defensive end, sophomore
Marina Radocaj swatted two blocks during the contest, which sets a new career high for the transfer. She currently sits second on the team in total blocks this season with three, trailing only junior
Sydney Ward's four.
Pacific is off for eight days before returning to the court for a two game home-stand beginning on Friday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. against the Long Beach State Beach in a rematch of a game Pacific won last season on the road. The following game of the home-stand comes Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in NAU's first trip to Stockton since 2004.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
