Pacific Hosts Pepperdine on Saturday for Powercat’s Birthday

STOCKTON, Calif. – Pacific women's basketball hosts Pepperdine for Powercat's birthday and Family Night at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Alex G. Spanos Center.
 
The game will be on ESPN+ with Don Gubbins and Celeste Gehring on the call.
 
Pacific (11-7, 3-2 WCC) is coming off a 75-48 road win at San Diego on Thursday. Graduate student Cecilia Holmberg led the way with her first 20-point performance of her career. Junior Elizabeth Elliott tallied 18 points and eight rebounds. Senior Kadie Deaton registered 11 points, four assists and three steals. Junior Anaya James notched 10 points and seven assists.
 
Elliott leads the Tigers with 14.1 points per game and is shooting .608 from the field. The Inglewood Calif. native's field goal percentage is currently ranked second in the West Coast Conference. Elliott is also the team leader and 11th in the league with 5.8 rebounds per game.
 
 James is averaging 12.4 points per game while leading the Tigers in assists (5.6) and three-pointers (1.1) per game. She is currently second in dish outs and 15th in triples in the WCC.
 
Deaton is scoring 11.1 points per game while notching a team-leading 1.5 steals per game. Her steals are also ranked eighth in the conference.
 
Meanwhile, Holmberg is posting 10.7 points per game, which is 15th in the league.
 
This will be the 29th meeting between Pacific and Pepperdine. The Tigers hold an 18-10 overall advantage in the all-time series against the Waves, with 11-1 at the Spanos Center. Last season, Pacific swept the regular season with a 74-64 win in Stockton and a 66-59 victory in Malibu.
 
Pepperdine (5-12, 1-3 WCC) is currently in eighth place in the WCC. The Waves earned its lone conference win thus far at San Diego by a score of 92-36. Pepperdine is second in the league when holding opponents from the field (.393) and blocks per game (4.2). In addition, the Waves are also fourth in combined (36.7) and defensive rebounds (26.1) per game. In national ranks, Pepperdine is 58th in blocks and bench points (23.8) per game.
 
The Waves won the conference title back-to-back in 2002 and 2003 and again in 2006. Pepperdine has made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament and six in the WNIT.
 
Jane Nwaba leads the Waves with 9.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Jorynn Ross, who earned back-to-back WCC Freshman of the Week honors on Dec. 18 and Dec. 26, is averaging 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
 
Following Saturday's game, the Tigers remain at home as they welcome Saint Mary's at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
 
NOTES
-In 17 of its 18 games this season, Pacific has had three or more players score in double figures.
 
-The Tigers are 10-1 when leading at halftime and 8-2 when scoring 70 or more points.
 
-Pacific is currently second behind Gonzaga in scoring offense (73.2 ppg) and field goal percentage (.459) in the WCC. The Tigers are also second in free throws made (232).
 
-All players averaging double figures in scoring are ranked in the top 10 in the league. Nationally Elliott is 20th in field goal percentage (.608) and 98th in made field goals (101). Smith is 37th in free throw percentage (.872) and 46th in free throws made (68).
 
-The Tigers are in the top 100 nationally in five statistical categories, with their highest being at 25th in assists per game (17.8).
