VALENCIA, Spain – Game number two for the Pacific women's basketball team took place Saturday evening against Elite Sports Academy.
"We were definitely a little fresher physically and mentally, having been here a few days," said Head Coach
Bradley Davis. "I thought you could see that in our offensive transition and defensive rotations."
The Tigers played well in the paint, using their size advantage to score inside. The Elite Sports Academy played aggressive defense early on before sharp passing from the Tigers forced the team to back off.
"I thought everyone had some good moments tonight," continued Davis. "
Sydney Ward made a living on defensive deflections.
Elizabeth Elliott and
Rosie Schweizer had a presence inside and on the free-throw line.
Kadie Deaton and
Anaya James really set the pace for us tonight, and
Liz Smith energized us when we needed it."
"We still have a lot to work on, but for early August, we have a lot to work with too."
Before the game, the Tigers explored Valencia, which included visiting the world-renowned City of Arts and Sciences before heading to Albufera National Park, where the team traveled by boat to try paella at Casa Angel in the city it was created in. With over 300 days of sunshine a year in Valencia, it was the perfect opportunity to be outside for the team.
Pacific will travel to Barcelona tomorrow, where the team will spend the final four days of the trip and play one last game.
