STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's track & field team participated in two meets on Saturday, competing in the Triton Invitational at UC San Diego and the Stan State Invite at Stanislaus State.

At the Triton Invitational, Sophie Pazzo set a new personal best in the 1500 meters as she earned a 19th-place finish out of 77 runners with a time of 4:55.76. Competing in the event for the third time in her career, Pazzo surpassed her previous best time of 5:00.95 set at the Aggie Open earlier this season.

Emily Wernli also earned a record-setting time in the 1500 meters, placing 44th with a time of 5:13.68 in her first attempt in the event.

Earning a fifth-place finish in her flight with a length of 10.43 meters, Kailey Espinoza set a new personal best in the triple jump.

At the Stan State Invite, multiple Tigers competed and earned solid finishes. Anahi Avila Perez earned a second-place finish in the 5000 meters with a time 20:31.99. Briteny Goriye followed suit in fifth place with a time of 22:05.80.

Competing in the long jump for the fifth time in her career, Ella Leroy surpassed her previous best with a length of 4.96 meters. Placing in seventh out of 17 competitors, Leroy broke her previous best by .02 meters set at the Westmont Classis this season.

Serena Yee also set a new best, competing in the triple jump with a length of 9.95 meters.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday, April 15, when it competes in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific.
