Meet the newcomers to the Pacific women's water polo program.
Natalie Johnston, a 5'8" junior from Stockton, California, joined the Tigers in the 2023 season as a transfer. She is redshirting the 2023 season.
Why did you choose Pacific?Â
I chose Pacific because I wanted to go to a program with a great mindset, a drive to win and a close team connection, and this team has all of these things. After attending community college in Stockton, I wanted to move on to the next step in water polo, and I knew that coming to Pacific would help me reach these goals. I grew up around Pacific and always thought it would be an amazing place to attend college. After talking with Assistant Coach Derek Clappis, he expressed and showed me all the great things about Pacific and the program, which helped me decide.
What is your favorite thing about playing water polo?Â
My favorite thing about playing water polo is the team chemistry. Spending time with these girls every day, in and out of the water, is the best part of being on this team. Every one of us strives to win, and we support and push each other to do our best and be the best people we can be in and out of the water.Â
What is something people should know about you?Â
I am a hard worker and always try to give 100 percent.
What are you most proud of before Pacific?Â
I am proud of how much I have improved as a player and person since I started playing water polo 11 years ago. I am much stronger and more confident mentally and physically.Â
