Tigers Look to Continue Five-Game Win Streak Amid Starting GCC Play

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The #14 Pacific women's water polo team (13-4) comes off a 4-0 weekend at the Convergence Tournament hosted by Pomona Pitzer, hoping to continue their five-game winning streak this weekend.
 
"We had some big wins last weekend, but we're now entering conference play, and this is where it counts," said Head Coach James Graham.
 
The Tigers take on California Baptist (13-11) in Riverside, for their first GCC match of the season, at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10. The Tigers have a 13-8 advantage over the Lancers since 2007, with the last 10 matches being wins for Pacific. The two teams last faced off in April of 2022, with the Tigers winning, 16-10.
 
Pacific takes on #18 Loyola Marymount (6-10) in Los Angeles for another GCC matchup at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 11. This is a rematch the Tigers have been looking forward to since last April. During regular season play, the Tigers defeated the Lions 12-11 at home last season but fell to the other big cats in the GCC tournament 10-5. Against the Lions, the Tigers have a 13-4 record since 2012.
 
"We're looking forward to taking all we've learned so far this season and putting it to work against California Baptist and LMU," said Graham.
 
Freshman Dora Alaksza had a standout performance at the Convergence Tournament, leading the Tigers with 13 goals in four games. She is third in the GCC with 46 goals and fifth with 49 points. Alaksza is third in the conference with an average of 2.7 goals per game and fourth with an average of 2.9 points per game.
 
Redshirt senior goalkeeper Clara Vulpisi is sixth in the GCC with 81 saves and fifth with a .375 save percentage. She's second for goals against, with an average of 9.41. Vulpisi is ranked eighth in the conference for steals with 15 and fifth with an average of 4.8 saves per game.
 
Sophomore Hila Futorian is 10th in the GCC with 32 goals and eighth with an average of 1.9 goals per game. She's 10th in the conference with an average of 2.4 points per game.
 
Graduate student Lucy Davis is seventh in the conference with 11 sprint wins.
 
Sophomore Szamira Koppány is tied with Futorian at eighth in the GCC with an average of 1.9 goals per game.
