Stockton, Calif. – The #12 Pacific women's water polo team (17-6, 2-2) takes on two opponents at home this weekend; #25 San Diego State (8-14, 1-1) and #5 California (15-6, 2-1).
Against GCC opponent San Diego State, Pacific is 6-16 since 2006. The Tigers won six of the last eight meetings between the two teams, including a 14-8 and a 16-6 victory, both in April 2022.
It's Pink Out The Pool Day at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool when the Tigers take on San Diego State at noon on Saturday, April 1, to show support and raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer. The Tigers will have breast cancer survivor and Pacific alum Tai Zorea sitting alongside them on the bench as an honorary coach. Zorea was 38 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and this week marks the fifth year of being cancer free.
Hospice of San Joaquin County will give fans pink ribbons at Saturday's game.
On Sunday, the Tigers take on the California Golden Bears at 1 p.m. in a non-conference matchup. The Tigers have not won against the Golden Bears before and haven't faced the team from Berkeley since January of last year.
Sophomore Hila Futorian leads the team in goals scored with 51 and is second for assists with 16. Sophomore Szamira Koppány is second with 48 goals. Graduate student Lucy Davis leads the team in assists with 17. Freshman Alicia Petkov has a dominant shot efficiency of 70.5 percent with 31 goals.
Senior Clara Vulpisi is second in the GCC with 137 saves and second in goals-against with an average of 10.27. Vulpisi is also second in the GCC for total steals, with 26 to her name.
Hila Futorian is fourth in the GCC with 51 goals and fifth with 67 points. Teammates sophomore Szamira Koppány (48 goals) and freshman Dora Alaksza (46) are all in the GCC's top 10 for goals.
