STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific baseball team (1-6) is back in action this weekend, traveling to New Mexico State (0-7) for a three-game series against the Aggies.
Pacific dropped its midweek matchup against #2 Stanford 15-5 on Wednesday. Freshman
Rylan Evans picked up three hits, and 10 Pacific pitchers got work on the mound.
Evans leads the nation and the conference in batting average, hitting at a .621 clip seven games in. Freshman
Peyton Miller is tied for seventh in WCC, hitting .429. Graduate student
Ben Nemivant and freshman
Tony Otis are tied for the team lead in RBIs with four. The Tigers are hitting well as a team, with 10+ hits in five of seven games.
Senior
Jackson Ertz has made three relief appearances for the Tigers with a 2.70 ERA and three strikeouts. Senior
Grant Stevens pitched 6.0 innings with six strikeouts in a win against Milwaukee. Stevens leads the team in strikeouts with eight and innings pitched with 9.0.
New Mexico State is still looking for its first win, but that has not stopped Nolan Funke from collecting seven hits, four RBI and a home run while leading the team in batting average at .304. The Aggies have shown off the power to start the year, hitting seven home runs and totaling 12 extra-base hits.
This series will be the first time the two teams have faced since Pacific joined the WCC.
