Men's Basketball Falls at LMU in High Scoring Affair

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team fell to LMU, 90-88, in a West Coast Conference contest Saturday evening at the Gersten Pavilion.

"Rebounds and second-chance points were the difference," Head Coach Leonard Perry said after the game. "We had the lead, got crucial stops, but couldn't get the rebounds."

For the first time this season, the Tigers (13-16, 6-8) had six players reach double figures, with Judson Martindale leading the way with 19 points. Martindale was near-perfect from the field, connecting on eight field-goal attempts throughout the game. The sophomore from Sudbury, Mass., shot 75 percent (three-for-four) from beyond the three-point line, grabbed two rebounds, and dished out two assists.

Keylan Boone added 15 points for the Tigers as he shot an efficient 62.5 percent (five-for-eight) from the floor. Boone led the team in rebounding during the game, grabbing four of the team's 22.

Jordan Ivy-Curry came off the bench and scored 13 points, leading the second unit that outscored the Lions (18-11, 8-7), 31-18. Ivy-Curry only missed one shot in 19 minutes, going five-for-six from the field and a perfect three-for-three from beyond the arc.

Moe Odum, Luke Avdalovic, and Tyler Beard completed the offense, scoring 11, 10, and 10 points, respectively.

The Tigers scored on their first five possessions and jumped out to an early 12-3 lead in the opening three minutes of the game. The Tigers expanded the advantage throughout the half and led by 12, 25-13 at the 10:43 mark. The Lions cut the deficit to four, 47-43, during the remainder of the half, outscoring the Tigers 30-22.

Leading for most of the second half, the Tigers fell behind with 38 seconds left. The Lions held the Tigers without a field goal in the game's final four minutes and used a 15-2 run to secure the two-point win.

Pacific returns to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, as it takes on #17 Saint Mary's at the University Credit Union Pavilion.
