Men's Basketball Drops Nail-biter to San Francisco

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific men's basketball team dropped a 76-68 decision to San Francisco Thursday evening at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

"It was hard for us to get into anything offensively," Head Coach Leonard Perry said after the game. "Their guards crawled up underneath our guards and gave them fits."

Led by Keylan Boone's team-high 18 points, the Tigers (13-15, 6-7) had three players score in double figures during the contest.

Boone shot 50 percent (six-for-12) from the field and knocked down three long-range shots. Reaching a double-digit point total for the third consecutive game, Boone has averaged 23.3 points per game during that stretch. The junior from Tulsa, Okla., was also a staple defensively, tying a season-high in steals with two and accumulating two blocks.

Recording his second-highest point total this season, Moe Odum scored 10 points in 20 minutes. Odum also added a game-high four assists, pushing his season total to 92.

Luke Avdalovic poured in 10 points for the Tigers, shooting 66.6 percent (four-for-six) from the field, and was perfect from beyond the arc, connecting on both of his three-point attempts.

In a tightly contested first half that saw seven ties and 11 lead changes, both teams played on an even playing field. The Tigers' largest lead of the first half was three when Cam Denson connected on two free-throw attempts to edge ahead, 25-22 at the 7:11 mark.

The Dons (17-12, 6-8) closed the half on a 16-9 run, gaining a four-point advantage, 38-34, at the halftime break.

The Tigers briefly regained the lead near the midway point of the second half, dropping four-straight points to go up three, 50-47, at the 10:30 mark. The Dons quickly responded and outscored the Tigers 29-18 the remainder of the way.

Pacific returns to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, as it travels south to take on LMU at the Gersten Pavilion.
