STOCKTON, Calif. – The Pacific women's swimming team (4-7) won three individual events and scored in the top spot in the free relay in the last home meet of the 2022-23 season, dropping a 168-88 decision to UC Davis.
"It's been a long stretch of racing for the team, and it was a surprise to see as many season bests today," said head coach
Katelyne Herrington. We had three personal bests in the 400 IM and came away with some wins against a competitive team. I'm excited for what's in store for this team at the conference championships."
Junior
Caitlin Tan was the first individual winner for the Tigers, winning the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:06.44. Sophomore
Paige Sondgeroth won the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:19.93. She also finished second in the 100 breaststroke earlier in the meet. Sophomore
Jordyn Gonzales was the top scorer in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:28.61.
Sondgeroth led off the 400 free relay that scored in the top spot with a time of 3:34.77. She was joined by sophomore
Alexia Ferguson, sophomore
Jadyn Phillips and Tan. The 200 medley relay team of sophomore
Noemi Melendez, Sondgeroth, Tan and Ferguson finished second in the opening event.
The men's and women's teams will head to Santa Barbara for the UCSB Invite on next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4. It will be the final event before the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, which will be held February 15-18 in Mission Viejo, Calif.
